About

Zayla Carter graduated with her BM in Music Performance and BS in Music Media Production from Ball State University and MM in Music Performance from East Carolina University. Before joining UIC, Zayla did contract work for Stripe where she managed video conferencing systems and helped with production for large corporate events in their Chicago and San Francisco offices.

While at East Carolina, Zayla had a graduate assistantship working in the School of Music’s recording studio, where she recorded and live streamed all concerts and recitals as well as helped manage the studio. During her time in North Carolina, Zayla also worked as the Audio Technician and Live Streaming Coordinator for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville, where she ran sound, live streamed services, and trained volunteers.

Zayla served on Interlochen Arts Camp’s production staff in 2019, running lights and sound for student and faculty performances, and working with touring acts such as Weird Al, Lady A, Reba McEntire, and others. More recently, she has freelanced as a stagehand for several production companies in the Chicago area.

In her free time, Zayla likes to try new restaurants, spend time with friends, and continues to pursue musical opportunities playing clarinet and producing music.
