About

Renowned for her luminous tone, expressive artistry, and charismatic stage presence, Spanish flutist Eugenia Moliner has established herself as one of today’s most compelling performers on the international stage. Celebrated for her masterful command of tone color and her finely honed musical sensibility, Moliner is frequently praised for crafting interpretations that are as technically refined as they are emotionally stirring.

Critics have lauded her performances with glowing accolades:

“Moliner is a fantastic flutist, every note she plays is part of the story. She weaves a line with colors, vibrato use or the lack thereof, and a sensuality that is exactly what the music requires… it is a master class in musicality.” — Flute Talk (USA)

“This music is a perfect medium for appreciating Moliner’s exquisite playing. Her control, her impeccable intonation, and her ability to blend seamlessly with subtle changes of tone color are second only to her expressive artistry.” — Flute Quarterly (USA)

“An artist of the highest caliber.” — Pan Magazine (UK)

“Moliner casts a shimmering spell… her lines dancing with youthful innocence over the guitarist’s gently pulsing chords. The result is effortlessly beguiling.” — Gramophone

“Moliner is a flutist of pure tone and great agility, who shapes each phrase with exquisite taste.” — Gramophone

As a core member of the internationally acclaimed Cavatina Duo with guitarist Denis Azabagić, Moliner has performed in over 30 countries across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Together, they have graced such prestigious stages as the Ravinia Festival, the Harris Theater and Symphony Center in Chicago, Da Camera Society in Los Angeles, Mainly Mozart Festival in San Diego, and the Opening Gala of the National Flute Association Convention (USA). International appearances include the National Performing Arts Center in Beijing, Oriental Arts Center in Shanghai, National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, The Doelen in the Netherlands, Campos do Jordão Festival in Brazil, National Concert Hall in Taipei, Daejeon Philharmonic Concert Hall in Korea, and ICCR Music Center in Kolkata.

As an orchestral soloist, she has performed with ensembles such as the Chicago Sinfonietta, Daejeon Philharmonic, Camerata Serbica, Lanyang Symphony, Traverse Symphony, and the Monterrey Youth Symphony. Moliner has collaborated with esteemed artists including flutists Mathieu Dufour, Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson, Julia Gállego, and Francisco López, as well as principal musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, and Toronto Symphony. She has been a frequent guest with the Chicago Chamber Musicians, Civitas Ensemble, Avalon Quartet, and Aspen Trio. While based in the Netherlands, she also performed with the Rotterdam Baroque Ensemble, Montebello Ensemble, and the National Philharmonic.

Her discography spans thirteen albums, and she has played a vital role in expanding the repertoire for flute and guitar through commissions of new works from leading composers. Her recordings and live performances have been featured on major classical radio stations including WFMT, NPR, and Radio Nacional de España. Notable recent recordings include Song to the Moon (Azica Records), a recital of works by Mahler, Schubert, and Medtner; Wings (Acis Records), featuring chamber music by Rami Levin; and Silk Apples (Acis Records, 2025), a collection of culturally inspired contemporary works.

In March 2025, her latest album with the Cavatina Duo—River of Fire, in collaboration with the two-time GRAMMY-winning Pacifica Quartet—was released on Cedille Records to critical acclaim. The album explores themes of migration and resilience through music inspired by the Romani diaspora.

Beyond the stage, Eugenia Moliner is dedicated to education and community engagement. She is a faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago and serves as artistic director of the Festival Juan Gual Esteve in Spain. She is regularly invited to give masterclasses at universities and music festivals around the world, including in Russia, Brazil, Taiwan, Spain, Mexico, Bosnia, Serbia, India, the Netherlands, Portugal, Denmark, and throughout the United States.

Her commitment to advancing the flute and guitar duo repertoire includes not only commissioning new works; but also supporting the next generation of musicians. At the Festival Juan Gual Esteve, she co-directs the international competition Flauta y Guitarra Plus, an initiative designed to foster young talent and cultivate artistic excellence in this unique chamber music pairing.

Moliner is also a founding member of the Fandango Ensemble, an innovative and multicultural group that brings together flute, guitar, violin, and cello.
