Music Ed: Welcome Our First Cohort of Student Teachers

Our first cohort of Music Education student teachers has entered the classroom! Over the next few weeks, these four students will be working with their cooperating teachers at Prescott, Bateman, Perez, and South Loop elementary schools.

UIC’s BMUS in Music Education program launched two years ago, focusing on preparing our students for careers as music educators in a diverse urban context. Earlier this year, we welcomed Dr. Stephanie Gregoire as Clinical Assistant Professor in Music Education. With support from Dr. Brent Talbot and Dr. Tiffanie Waldron, Dr. Gregoire has led the effort of placing UIC students in various music classrooms throughout the city.

Congratulations to our student teachers! We cannot wait to see what great work you do this semester.
