Join the UIC Orchestras for a trip into the past for some of the foundational works of the orchestral repertoire. Ludwig van Beethoven is said to have “announced himself to the world” with his spirited Symphony No. 1 in C major, which took the symphonic legacies of Mozart and Haydn and added Beethoven’s own brash, witty, humorous spin. The UICO brass and percussion are spotlighted in Handel’s sparkling Music for the Royal Fireworks. This concert also marks the debut of the UIC Chamber Orchestra performing Samuel Barber’s rapturous Adagio for Strings. Second-year music education student Danna Butnariu, winner of UIC’s Concerto & Aria Competition, is featured on Hummel’s iconic Trumpet Concerto.
All of our concerts are FREE and open to the public.
