About

Jason K. Martin teaches Acting, Voice, and Speech courses in both the BA and BFA programs. Jason is a certified Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework®. He is deeply indebted to Knight-Thompson Speechwork as well. He received his MFA in Acting from California State University, Long Beach and his BA in English from Duke.

Mr. Martin has coached dialects and/or voice for many Chicago theatres, including: First Folio, Piccolo, Raven, Haven, Muse of Fire, Shattered Globe, Red Tape, National Pastime, Greenhouse Theater Center, Silk Road, and a staged reading at the Goodman. He is an ensemble member at Piccolo Theatre in Evanston, where he has been seen on stage in Comedy of Errors and Blithe Spirit. He also directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Piccolo in spring of 2014. Over the years he has also performed at Chicago Dramatists, Profiles, and The Building Stage, as well as theatres in Memphis, Colorado, Virginia, and California. Finally, Mr. Martin periodically appears as a variety of historical and literary characters for Rose Productions, which produces one and two person shows for libraries, senior centers, historical societies, and other venues throughout the Chicago region.

Mr. Martin maintains a small private clientele of actors and professionals seeking coaching for acting, voice, and personal development goals.
