Pop Rock Ensemble Auditions

Auditions: Tuesday, August 25, 2026, 6:30 – 9:00 PM in the ETMSW building, Room L285

Pop Rock Ensemble: T 6:30-9:00pm

Who Can Audition? Any UIC student, regardless of degree, has a place in our music ensembles and are encouraged to join. Students receiving a Music Merit Award and music degree students must meet specific ensemble obligations every semester according to their scholarship or degree plan requirements. Ensemble placement is determined by performance faculty based on audition results, scholarship/degree obligations, ensemble needs, and student preferences.

Where? L285 Recital Hall — ETMSW Building, Basement level (1040 W Harrison St.)

When? 6:30 – 9:00pm. Auditions for Pop Rock are in a jam session format. Please plan to stay the entire time block, though will likely not last the full duration. If you have any time conflicts, please reach out to Prof. Lopatka.

What? This ensemble focuses on performing pop music of the last 30 years, featuring songs from artists like Backstreet Boys, Paramore, and Chappell Roan. Students will learn faithful transcriptions and collaborate to create original arrangements, developing a unique sound each semester. If you love distorted guitars and big vocal harmonies, this band is for you!
