Join the strings of the UIC Orchestra in an intimate program combining well-known gems of the classical repertoire, “under-the-radar” masterworks, and holiday favorites. Prokofiev’s rollicking Troika and Vivaldi’s Winter anchor this program, which also includes two works by Chicago composers: Ahmed Alabaca’s Ascension for Solo Clarinet and Strings, featuring UIC Assistant Director of Bands Nicholas Carlson on clarinet; and Margaret Bonds’s Troubled Water, in a new arrangement by UICO conductor Timothy Fawkes.
