Ron Stemley serves as Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His responsibilities include teaching Mus 156: Pep Band and coordinating performances for the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Stemley completed his B.A. in music with a focus in saxophone performance at the University of Illinois at Chicago. While attending UIC he played in many of the ensembles including Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, Saxophone Quartet, Reed Quintet, and Funk Band. Stemley also performed with the premier saxophone quartet, Red Ash Quartet, throughout his time at UIC. In 2021, Ron earned his Master of Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. At UIUC, he worked as a Graduate Admissions Assistant within the School of Music to help coordinate the open house, freshman and transfer auditions, and help maintain the UIUC School of Music website and social media presence.
Outside of academia, Ron is an active arranger, music producer, photographer, sound designer as well as a social media content creator. Returning to the UIC campus after completing his Masters of Music Education, he will build the athletic band program and solidify the brand of the Pep Band.
