Ivanov
By Anton Chekhov
Adapated by Peter Christensen and Yasen Peyankov
The struggles of Chekhov’s first great dramatic anti-hero continue to enthrall and captivate. A nuanced exploration of unfulfilled lives and lost souls, Ivanov weaves tragedy and comedy as each character struggles to make sense of their disillusionment, to capture love, or simply endure boredom in the provinces. Steppenwolf Ensemble member Yasen Peyankov directs his own translation of Chekhov’s emotionally charged classic.
