Assistant Director/Business Manager
Tomoko Kawanaka came to UIC in the fall of 2009 after returning from educational pursuits overseas. Prior to leaving the country she was Program Coordinator of the Downtown Program, on the infamous Block 37, at Gallery 37 in Chicago. Tomoko received her BFA in painting, minoring in printmaking from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and received her MFA from the Edinburgh College of Art, Edinburgh, Scotland. While in Scotland she worked at Gallery 37 Edinburgh for two summers.
