Admission to our theatre programs require the completion of an audition for BFA Acting and BA Theatre & Performance applicants. Portfolio reviews are required for BA Theatre Design, Production and Technology applicants. All applicants will also be required to complete an interview with our faculty. SPRING 2022 AND FALL 2022 AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS
Due to the current situation with Covid-19, we will not be holidng any in-person auditions. All Spring 2022 and Fall 2022 applicants should submit their recorded audition materials via the portfolio option on the application status page.
After you submit your application, you will receive an email that provides instructions on how to submit your recorded audition materials. In addition you will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule your interview, interviews will be available either in person or via zoom. Prepare two 2-minute contrasting contemporary monologues,

Submit a digital copy of your resume
BA in Theatre & Performance

Select one of the following options:

Performance of a dramatic or comedic monologue (2 min)

One minute of spoken word, poetry, or storytelling (self-composed or otherwise) Non-text performance is OK (movement, voice, silent improvisation.)

Reading from a 2 min excerpt of a play you have written or adapted (bring three copies for faculty.)

Interview and presentation of student’s portfolio; your interview will be an opportunity for you to share with our theatre design faculty examples of your work and to discuss your plans for pursuing your educational and professional artistic development here at the UIC School of Theatre & Music. After you submit your application you will receive an email from Admissions providing you with instructions on how to submit your recorded audition materials and a second email requesting you to schedule your interview date. Audition materials should be submitted prior to your scheduled interview date.

Saturday Jan 15, 2022, from 11:00am – 1:00pm
Monday Jan 24, 2022, from 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Monday Feb 21 2022, from 3:00pm – 6:00pm (Presidents day)
Saturday March 5, 2022, from 11:00am – 1:00pm
Monday April 4 2022, from 3:00pm - 6:00pm
New Students must begin an online application, located here, by January 15. Transfer and re-admit students must apply by March 31.
